About

The Weaver Way has been developed in tandem by two passionate students of Value Investing. Our framework for investing is derived from the original writings of Benjamin Graham & David Dodd’s masterpiece, Security Analysis. Since then, we have continued to develop our unique style by picking up insights from many other famed investors, and we intend to use this blog as a medium to share such insights.

Investment Philosophy

We believe that excess returns are derived through holding equity stakes in quality companies over the long term. In determining as to whether a business fits the definition of ‘quality’, we are looking for characteristics that give it an ‘economic moat’. A sustainable advantage that allows a business to earn high returns on capital over an extended duration.

These characteristics are both qualitative and subjective and are thus difficult to value for the average investor. Further, markets may not come to realise these characteristics for an extended period, adding an additional hurdle for the majority of market participants, time.

We feel that the only way to avoid conforming to consensus views is to carry a deep sense of conviction around each investment idea. To date, we have found that research has been our best weapon of choice in developing this sense of conviction. However, above all else, it is our temperament that allows us to maintain conviction throughout times of market turmoil. In the end, that’s all that counts.
